Meeting Dec. 3rd

Thanksgiving has come and gone. I hope everyone had lots to be thankful for and enjoyed the holiday with loved ones. On December 3rd we will meet again. This being the first Saturday of December instead of our usual meeting time hopefully many will attend.

If I can find the time this week we may have a couple new songs to learn.

Meeting Nov. 19th

Soon we will meet again! This being a rescheduled third Saturday of the month instead of the fourth. Thank you all for being flexible for November and December so our meetings don’t interrupt the holidays. Our last gathering was fantastic. Thanks to all that attended. I’m hoping for another great turnout. I just finished another one of Chris Stapleton’s songs which we’ll play this Saturday. “Daddy Doesn’t Pray Anymore”. This one is an easy song without any fancy riffs but it is also quite sad but beautiful. I’ll post a link to Youtube so have a listen. Grab a tissue! 😥

Meeting Nov. 5th

*Holiday meetings schedule changed.

Because of the upcoming holidays and the three weeks between our last meeting on Oct. 22nd and the next normally scheduled gathering on the 12th of November we will switch the dates for November and December to the first and third Saturdays instead of the second and fourth.

The dates for our upcoming meetings will be;

Nov. 5th and 19th instead of the 12th and 26th

Dec. 3rd and 17th instead of the 10th and 24th.

Thanks to everyone that came to our last meeting on the 22nd. Our “Quick Pick” meeting worked out very nicely with many good song choices from our members. This time I’ve taken some time to come up with a fantastic list of songs from the back of the blue book. I surely had fun on my couch playing through the list and hopefully everyone will enjoy them also.

I really enjoyed the second half of the last meeting. Playing our arrangements was really a blast. Traveller, Gale Song, and Me and Julio were highlights. I’ll try my best to introduce a new song or two for our November 5th meeting. Song suggestions are always welcome. Send me an email, leave a FB comment, or use Meetup to make a suggestion.

Meeting – Sat. Oct. 22nd

Hello all you Pluckin’ Strummers! Again we gather to share our affinity for the little four string wonder.

Normally I choose a list of songs from one of the books we use but this meeting will be different. We are gonna shoot from the hip and use book one, the yellow one, and let you, our beloved members pick the songs. Get yourself a Post-It and jot down a must play song or two and we’ll fill the first half with a bunch of favorites. I’ll pick several just in case there’s moments of silence when prompted for a page number.

Which way will it go? Sad or happy? Romantic or Sappy? Mello or Rockin’? Jazzy or Country? So many choices! It’ll surely be a blast!

The second half will be filled with our arrangements. I’ll bing copies of some of our favorites along with a couple new ones. I just finished writing up a classic by Chicago, Colour My World. I even wrote up the flute solo. Get ready to get your pickin’ fingers ready!

I hope everyone took a little time to work on the Chris Stapleton song “Traveller” that I sent out in an email blast. That’ll be a fun song to play. I hope there will be a large turnout this Saturday. Thanks to all our members for your continued support.

Meeting – Oct. 8th

Meeting – Sept. 24th

Hello Pluckin’ Strummers!

The 2016 Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival brought to you by KalaKoa Entertainment will take place on Saturday September 24th.

I regret to inform you all that since this event takes place on our regularly scheduled meeting day we will not be gathering. Hopefully our members will attend the festival as it looks like it will be a fantastic day of workshops, vendors, food trucks, and stellar performances.

Last year many of us met at Kings Hawaiian Bakery for breakfast before the festival and we had a grand time. 

Let’s fill the place with Pluckin’ Strummers!

The LAIUF begins at 9 am so a 7:30 to 8 am meet time at the restaurant would work perfectly.

Meeting – Aug. 27th
