Well, this meeting did not happen because the Church was locked up tight in a proactive measure against the Coronavirus. Hopefully we’ll be back at it soon. Stand by for updates.
Hello fellow Pluckin’ Strummers,
Well, we’re back to Daylight Savings time, (I vote for just leaving it here this time), and you all have had a week to adjust to the new time so I hope to see you all again Saturday the 14th. St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and several people have suggested we add a few Irish tunes to our song list for the meeting. So, plan on “Drunkin’ Sailor” at some point during the 10 o’clock hour. And if you have a special Irish song you want to share with the group please bring enough copies, (20 should do it), to share.
The performance signups will be on the sheet again as before. When you write your name in the meeting signup sheet add a large “P” in the box before your name to reserve a spot on the list. If you are part of a duet, trio or quartet only one person needs to add the “P”.
I’ll remind everyone at the meeting, but I want you to be aware that our dear friend and fellow Pluckin’ Strummer Lee will be losing his ride to the meetings for a few weeks. Lee lives in Toluca Lake and if anyone is from that area and can offer him a ride to and from the meetings then we will all greatly appreciate it.

9:00am – Free 45 minute Lesson Session
Individual instruction/question and answers and group instruction
This has been a very rewarding hour for me personally. I have enjoyed your enthusiasm greatly and hope you have enjoyed mine too. First we will warm up with Beautiful Brown Eyes (D-G-A7) and Folsom Prison Blues (G-C-D7).
Now, after four consecutive meeting with you, you are ready for the next phase of our process. Overcoming performance anxiety. This week I will invite a few of you to individually join me in front of the group as we run through our newest song, “Hound Dog” (G – C7 – D7).
As always we are still trying to “Play and sing without looking at the book”. Taking time to play the song repeatedly and learn the chord changes by ear. Did I forget to mention having fun? Oh yeah, “having fun”!

11:50 – Performance Time
Please remember to sign up ahead of time and always remember we are all on your side. Performing is very difficult to get started at and mistakes can happen, (if you’ve ever heard me perform you know it’s true).
But, it’s all part of the process and once you get a feel for it, performing can be the most rewarding part of the meeting. If you need to, ask for help, support, or backup. I promise you will get it.
See you all Saturday!
Gene
